Gunnison County Colorado Ranches
Gunnison County encompasses the headwaters of the Gunnison River in western Colorado, and ranges from sagebrush to alpine peaks that tower over 14,000 feet. The area is known for clean air, expansive views and remarkably cold winters. In between these extremes lie the broad irrigated valleys of the Gunnison River, East River and Tomichi Creek, all of which have been occupied by productive cattle ranches for over 120 years. Most ranches lie wholly in the fertile streambottoms, but some extend into neighboring sagebrush hills and aspen forest.

Routt County Colorado Ranches
Routt County is dominated by broad valleys flanked by ranges of moderately high mountains. Well-watered by heavy winter snows, this may be the "greenest" region of the state. Beginning in the 1880s, this region became home to many large acreage cattle ranches, and agriculture remains economically important. Much of the arable land below 8000 feet is private, with abundant National Forest land filled with large stands of aspen and spruce/fir forests in the higher elevations.
