Bison Peaks Lodge Colorado Property: Located less than two hours southwest of Denver and at the edge of the spectacular Lost Creek Wilderness Area, Bison Peak Lodge is ideally located to serve as a corporate or family retreat, hunting lodge or youth camp. Indeed, for several years Outpost Wilderness Adventures has utilized Bison Peak Lodge as a “base camp” for introducing many teenagers to the abundance of rock climbing, backpacking and mountain biking opportunities in the area. Visionary minds will be able to craft many other uses for this versatile property.
The Bison Peak Lodge property sits at about 8800 feet in the quiet Tarryall Creek valley on the west side of the Tarryall Mountains. Its 37 acres are completely surrounded by the Pike National Forest, creating privacy that is second to none. A forest of spruce, pine and aspen surround the lodge, and it is especially spectacular in the fall. The property offers dramatic views of the Tarryall Range, including 12,431-foot Bison Peak, its highest point. Nearby public trailheads provide access to the Lost Creek Wilderness Area and many other parts of the Pike National Forest, presenting opportunities for weeks or even a lifetime of new exploration.
The lodge itself is a fairly new, two-story structure of 4050 square feet and is designed to accommodate large groups. Containing ten bedrooms and six bathrooms, it can handle up to fifty persons at a time. A two-story, Southwestern-style fireplace dominates the living space, and the dining area can host plenty of company! In addition, a 1768 square-foot deck wraps around the exterior and is a favorite place to socialize and enjoy the surrounding views.
Hunting opportunities in the surrounding Pike National Forest are primarily for mule deer, although bighorn sheep and elk can also be found in the Lost Creek Wilderness. Black bear, mountain lions, bobcats and coyotes are common predators, and blue grouse and turkeys call the Tarryall Creek home as well. Public fishing on Tarryall Creek is available directly across the road from Bison Peak Lodge (primarily for 10 to 16-inch browns and rainbows) and private fishing for larger trout can be had for a fee on nearby Rocky Mountain Angling Club properties. A small perennial stream runs by Bison Peak Lodge, and could be ultilized for developing a series of trophy trout ponds, which would also attract wildlfe.
With superb year-round paved road access and within two hours of both the Denver and Colorado Springs metropolitan areas, Bison Peak Lodge is a remarkable find with considerable commercial potential. We at Harrigan Land Company would love to help you shape your vision for Bison Peak Lodge. Give us a call and we’ll be glad to introduce you to the many possibilities in the one-of-a-kind Tarryall Valley.
