Massive trout are the two words that get even the most jaded anglers excited about Pleasant Valley’s River Ranch, located 20 minutes south of Steamboat Springs in one of the areas most untouched valleys, Pleasant Valley. Thick-bodied rainbows and browns up to 30 inches rule this section of the productive Yampa River, as it flows between Catamount and Stagecoach reservoirs. This tail water section of the Yampa River is often referred to by season anglers as one of the best stretches of trophy trout river on the planet. Pleasant Valley’s River Ranch is 118-acres and features approximately 1/2 mile of the Yampa River, all of which is prime trout habitat.
Although the river is the primary asset on this ranch, mule deer and elk from the adjacent Sarvis Creek Wilderness are attracted to the meadows and plentiful water resources on the ranch, so hunting is superb in the fall. Two glamping tents exist on the ranch and provide a beautiful refuge after a day of fishing or hunting on the ranch or adjacent public land.
Steamboat Springs needs no introduction as a world-class skiing and cultural resort, and it lies only 11 miles to the north.
