Western Cattle Ranches Sold: Legacy Ranch in Colorado Cattle Country
When it comes to Western cattle ranches sold this year, we can’t resist telling you about the 2,000-acre Matheson Ranch in the heart of Grand County’s Middle Park. It is bountiful. Matheson Ranch remained in the same family for five generations. They created a showpiece through careful stewardship—as fabulous Colorado cattle ranch, and a hunting and fishing getaway.
Matheson Ranch features a new 4-bedroom, 2.5 bath log home with breathtaking views of Eagles Wilderness to the south. There’s also an old log home for extra lodging. The many improvements include barns, outbuildings, and the fencing required for the cattle operation. Two deeded parcels and a BLM lease produces 450 acres of irrigated native grasses and supports 150 pair of grazing cattle.
Set in north-central Colorado, Middle Park established a long history as a legendary cattle ranching community. Middle Park is an area about 50 miles west of Boulder. From the convenient, gorgeous location on the southwest slope of Rocky Mountain National Park, Middle Park has established an excellent reputation as a great hunting and fishing property. Matheson Ranch is near many ski resorts—Steamboat Springs, Winter Park, and others—Wolford Mountain Reservoir, and two hours from Denver.
